Desktop Verse is a free and straightforward Mac OS X application that provides Bible verses on your desktop background on a daily basis. The app grabs random but memorable quotes from the New International Version Bible and puts them behind your windows and Desktop icons.

Using Desktop Verse is a piece of cake. As soon as you launch the app, it will display a menu bar panel where you can access several options and the Preferences window. Also, the quote is displayed over a non-clickable, dark transparent ribbon, along with the Bible source in parenthesis.

Furthermore, you are permitted to adjust the vertical position of the ribbon using a slider in the preferences, to select the text alignment (left, center or right), choose the font family from a select list and toggle the Dock icon on / off.

These options do not offer much flexibility, but they are enough for many casual users. Other options include refreshing / changing the verse and copying it to the system clipboard with just two clicks.

To wrap things up, Desktop Verse is a non-obtrusive, lightweight and easy-to-use Mac OS X application for religious users that brings random Bible verses on top of the desktop wallpaper. The app is simple to control and fairly adjustable.
