In 2014, I converted the Delphi dungeon generation code to Javascript. A browser demo can be found over here.

Back in 2010 I released an article on random dungeon generation and wrote a small prototype along with it. But only recently I got the time and motivation to finish this demo up and release it alongside with source code, so anyone interested can take a look at the source and make something out of it. Though I have several ideas for something related to a dungeon crawler I don’t think I’ll get to implement one of these in the near future, so I hope this demo along with the complete source (including the random dungeon generator) will be of use for some of you out there.

This demo uses the random dungeon generation algorithm discussed in my articel and implements a 3D dungeon with OpenGL, using shaders for per-pixel-lighting, and collision detection via Newton’s character controller. So this demo actually combines 3 different techniques in one.

The source was compiled and tested with Lazarus 0.9.30.4 and Delphi XE2, but it should work fine with other versions of Lazarus and Delphi too. Note that the demo currently only runs under windows, but changing it to Linux or Mac OS should only be changing the way how the rendering context is created and handled.

After the initial windows version, I started working on a an actual game based my dungeon generation code for Android. This one didn’t make it out of prototyping though, but was a good learning project for getting into Android development.

Prepare your Mac

Shut down your Mac.
Disconnect all external devices except keyboard, mouse, display, Ethernet connection (if applicable), and connection to AC power.
Make sure that your Mac is on a hard, flat, stable surface with good ventilation.

Start Apple Diagnostics

Determine whether you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, then follow the appropriate steps:

Apple silicon

Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button as your Mac starts up.
Release when you see the startup options window, which includes a gear icon labeled Options.
Press Command (⌘)-D on your keyboard.

Intel processor

Turn on your Mac, then immediately press and hold the D key on your keyboard as your Mac starts up.
Release when you see a progress bar or you're asked to choose a language.

View the test results

Apple Diagnostics shows a progress bar while it's checking your Mac:

When testing is complete, Apple Diagnostics shows the results, including one or more reference codes. Learn about Apple Diagnostics reference codes.

To repeat the test, click “Run the test again” or press Command-R.

To restart your Mac, click Restart or press R.

To shut down, click Shut Down or press S.

To get information about your service and support options, make sure that your Mac is connected to the internet, then click ”Get started” or press Command-G. Your Mac will restart to a webpage with more information. When you're done, choose Restart or Shut Down from the Apple menu.
